We are looking for a passionate and results-driven Benefits Manager who can lead our benefits strategy, ensuring our offerings remain competitive and aligned with our mission to support and enhance the well-being of our diverse workforce. The Benefits Manager will be responsible for collaborating across departments and leading the management of comprehensive benefits programs including retirement, health and life insurance, wellness initiatives, leave of absence and other employee benefits for Henkels & McCoy, a large, multi-state public company employer with multiple operating companies in the Power Delivery Industry. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of benefits administration, compliance, and employee engagement strategies and play a key role in enhancing our employee value proposition.

 

Responsibilities

  • Program Management:
    • Oversee the design, implementation, and administration of benefits programs, including retirement plans, health and life insurance, wellness initiatives, and leave of absence policies with the goal of enhancing employee engagement and satisfaction.
    • Ensure all benefits programs are competitive, compliant with federal, state and local regulations, and aligned with organization’s goals.
  • Leave of Absence Management:
    • Develop and manage policies related to various leave programs (e.g., FMLA, ADA, and other state-specific leave laws).
    • Manage coordination with HR and employees to facilitate leave requests, ensuring compliance with regulations and a smooth transition during leaves.
  • Compliance, Policy and Reporting:
    • Ensure all benefits programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., ERISA, HIPAA, ACA).
    • Create and update benefits policies and procedures to reflect changes in regulations, market trends and organizational needs.
    • Prepare and maintain necessary documentation, reports, and communications to ensure compliance and facilitate audits.
  • Vendor Management:
    • Evaluate, negotiate, and manage relationships with benefit providers and third-party administrators to ensure high-quality service and program effectiveness.
    • Monitor vendor performance and adherence to contracts.
  • Employee Engagement:
    • Develop and implement effective communication strategies to educate employees about their benefits options and any changes.
    • Provide guidance and support to employees regarding benefits inquiries and enrollment processes.
    • Develop and implement wellness programs to promote employee health and well-being.
  • Data Analysis and Program Improvement:
    • Analyze benefits usage, employee feedback, and market trends to assess program effectiveness and recommend enhancements.
    • Prepare reports for management detailing program performance and areas for improvement.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with HR, finance, and operating companies to ensure seamless benefits administration and integration with overall employee experience.
    • Partner with stakeholders to design benefits offerings that meet the diverse workforce needs.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Professional certification (e.g., CEBS, SHRM-CP, PHR) is  highly desirable.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in benefits management, preferably in a multi-state or public employer setting.
    • Strong knowledge of ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, and FMLA, with proven experience in compliance management.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees and stakeholders.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess benefits programs and make data-driven recommendations.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and HRIS systems.
